NLLR Letter from Z G Yewdall to Sam Fay Great Central

Text Version of the above:

Sam Fay Esq
Gt Central Rly
Marylebone Station
London N.W.

Dear Sir,

I have your wire & letter re the taking over
of the Slag & Coal shipments at Winteringham Wharf & I am
arranging accordingly.

Perhaps you will now give instructions to your staff
to draw & shunt our private sidings at Scunthorpe - the rates
already quoted allow for this - so that I can move the Locomotives
to Winteringham for work on the Whitton branch now in course of
construction.  I understand Wm Meyer of this Company or the
Light Rly Co., is in correspondence with you as regards the haulage
of the Yorks Iron Cos Ironstone out of their mines & until
I receive further notice I shall continue to draw their mines as your
engines at present are not allowed to do so

Yours faithfully
Z Geo Yewdall

Zachariah Yewdall
This photograph shows Zacariah (Zachary?) Yewdall, the Civil Engineer to the North Lindsey Light Railway when he was a member of the Royal Observer Corps at Winterton in 1945.  I understand that in his later years he lodged with Miss Bust in Low Street, Winterton.  I have also been led to believe that he surveyed and pegged out the route of the proposed line from Winteringham to Barton.
He appears to have served in the ROC for most of the war and I was also told that he designed the observation post at the back of Harrison's farm in North Street.

Photograph and information kindly supplied by Charles Parker

Mr Yewdall is also mentioned on the Church page.
