The Haven and Boatyard

Routh and Waddingham’s boatyard about the turn of the last century (certainly pre-1907 as there is no evidence of the railway on the far bank).  The boat is sitting on the dry dock - a floating pontoon that was initially sunk so that the boat could sail onto it, and that was then pumped out to float normally - lifting the boat with it.

The Haven and Boatyard

Routh and Waddingham’s boatyard post 1907 (note the railway buffers, wagons, and chutes.  At least two men can be seen working on the boat in the dry dock (centre-left) wearing their shirts and waistcoats.  The small boat nearest the camera is the Juno (or Jono) of Hull.
