Doris Shipp and her brother ride the swingboats at the fair which used to visit the village in the 1950s, and was erected in a field to the east of Low Burgage. This may have been
the final shout of the great Winteringham Fairs that had been a feature for almost 700 years! There were also sideshows such as air-rifle shooting, and a coconut shy. Sandra Clayton says that this is the
only photograph that she knows of showing the fair.
